A Milestone Week – Australian Gothic

Today’s post is a little different. No big announcements, no big insight about the novel. Just a note to say that this forthcoming week – 10-15 August 2025 – marks the days in which most of the plot of Australian Gothic takes place.

Australian Gothic tells a story that jumps about in time, spanning an entire generation from 1991 until this week in 2025. Locrian’s personal journey in grieving his father’s passing begins on Sunday August 10th before the novel begins to leap around. There a chapters involving his love interest, Lydia, which range from 2021 onwards. Charles, who is Locky’s father, deceased in the present day, has his own chapters set in the 90s. And finally, there are many chapters, often from the perspective of Locky’s sister Leah, that take place anywhere from the late 90s to 00s.

I have always wanted to write a tale that spans a large time frame; it was quite a challenge to order the chapters properly and keep the plot coherent. This involved some strict note-taking – who said what when; what has been revealed to the reader; when is the best moment to reveal this or that.

So yeah, that’s all for today! Here’s a picture of me playing my guitar, drawn by my little daughter. Speak soon!
