Vale – David Bowie

Like many, many others I am absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of music legend David Bowie. I understand this is bit different to what I usually post on this site, but given how much Bowie influenced my life I wanted to pay my deepest respects.

I don’t know that I’ve ever mourned for a man that I’ve never met, but Bowie’s passing really does feel like I’ve lost something big.

It is so strange that I had bought his new album Blackstar just hours before hearing this sad news. How stranger still that his latest single Lazarus would carry such weight – Lazarus, resurrected – similarly Bowie’s legacy will live on for a long time after his death. His parting album truly is life imitating art.

David, your influence on my life cannot be understated. Thank you for China Girls, for Diamond Dogs, Scary Monsters, Disco Kings and Young Americans; for Heroes and Major Toms and Art Decades.

Thank you for the music. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
