The Race Against Dementia

On Sunday 28th February I participated in the Illawarra Memory Walk for 2016 – a charity run raising money and awareness of Alzheimer’s and dementia. It was an excellent day, with the Wollongong event having more participants than any year previous.

This writer turned runner completed the leisurely jog in under 52 minutes – not bad for a Sunday morning!

Memory

Dementia and its variants are awful and debilitating diseases with no known cure. Dementia is currently the 2nd highest cause of death in Australia, with over 350,000 Australians currently living with it! This goes beyond the afflicted persons too with an estimated 1.2 million Australians involved with the caring of someone suffering from dementia.

It is still possible to donate until 28th March 2016, so please help if you can by clicking here.
