Today let’s divulge in a few spooky films to satisfy a lust for the eldritch and macabre! Tim Burton’s films have enraptured me since I was child, so I implore people to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas! There are also plenty of TV shows that have had influenced me over the years – Dark Shadows, The Addams Family to name a few. Not to mention The Simpsons annual Treehouse Of Horror episodes. Perhaps you’d enjoy a good old cult classic too; ignore the sequels, because Brandon Lee is the only true hero of The Crow! Here is 2009’s costume, and I must say I wish my hair had been longer for this one:

Continuing what we begun yesterday, I thought today I would share with you some of my favourite music – in particular music to incite the chills of Halloween! You can never go wrong with The Cure or Joy Division. Perhaps you could give Iggy Pop’s The Idiot a spin… Or if you are after something a little obscure, check out And Also The Trees. So monster mashers, here is my next costume, from 2010, Ziggy Stardust himself – David Bowie.

“Eternity is a frightfully long time to spend alone…”

And now, an obvious confession – Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year. Since childhood I have been drawn to all things spooky, and a tradition amongst my friends is an annual ‘Spookyween’ party. This gathering encourages us all to get decked out in costume (no theme, no genre; we dress as whatever we wish), and the stakes seem to rise every year, resulting in some fantastic efforts from us all. Over the coming days I’ll show off a few of my costumes from across the years; I feel the need to begin with the master of macabre – none other than Edgar Allan Poe, my costume from 2012.
